Privacy policy | Search A Show
Who we are
Search A Show ("we") is run by Planet Infinity B.V. (the Netherlands), the data controller. This policy covers the website searchashow.com and the Search A Show app for iPhone, iPad and Android: a place to discover live shows and for organizers to list them. For privacy questions, email searchashow@gmail.com.
What we collect, and why
- Browsing the site and the apps — no account needed. We count visits ourselves, on our own servers (no Google Analytics or other outside service): pages and shows opened, searches (without e-mail addresses or long numbers), filters, ticket-link, save, share and deal clicks, sign-ups, page speed and script errors, your language, device type, website or app, and your country — looked up from your IP address on our server, after which the IP address is discarded (IP geolocation by DB-IP). Without your consent this is an anonymous count only: nothing is stored on your device and nothing identifies you. If you allow analytics, we also note the website you came from, campaign tags, browser and system brand and your town, use a visit code that changes every day and can't be turned back into your IP address, and keep a random visit number for the open tab and the date of your first visit on your device. Visit codes are deleted after 90 days, search words after 13 months, counts after 25 months. Our team's own visits are not counted. Legal basis: legitimate interests (anonymous counts) and consent (analytics details).
- Your account — email, name and password (stored hashed) if you sign up, plus your saved shows. Used to sign you in and provide the features you ask for. Legal basis: contract.
- Sign in with Google or Apple — if you choose it, Google or Apple tells us your email address, your name (if you share it) and an account ID, after checking it’s you. We never see your Google or Apple password. With Apple’s “Hide My Email” we only get a forwarding address. We store which Google or Apple account belongs to your account, so you can sign in again. Legal basis: contract.
- Marketing emails — only if you tick the box (it’s never ticked for you). We keep a record of your choice, when and where you made it and the exact wording, as proof. You can say no any time in your account or with the unsubscribe link. Legal basis: consent.
- Organizer profiles — organization details, contact email and phone (never shown publicly), team members, shows and posters you upload. Image metadata (such as camera location) is removed from every published image. Legal basis: contract.
- Emails — sign-in and verification codes, team invites, and review decisions about your shows. We don’t send marketing emails unless you opt in.
- Searches — what you type in search is sent to our server to find shows. It isn’t linked to your account or used for profiles; it only appears in server logs (see below).
- Phone number — only if you add one to your profile or organizer profile. Used to contact you about your account or shows; never shown publicly.
- Server logs — kept up to 30 days to keep the service secure and working. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
The Search A Show app
The app uses the same account and the same data as the website, plus:
- Approximate location — only if you allow it, to show shows near you. The app rounds your position to about 1 km before sending it, and we don’t store it. You can switch it off in your phone’s settings at any time.
- Photos — only when an organizer picks a poster with the phone’s photo picker. The app sees just the picture you choose, never your whole photo library, and removes its metadata before it is published.
- Crash reports — when the app crashes, it sends a crash report (device model, operating system, app version and what went wrong) through Firebase Crashlytics, so we can fix it. Crash reports are kept for 90 days and don’t include your name or email.
- Show views and ticket-link taps — counted the same way as on the website, so organizers can see how their shows do.
Saved shows, your location choice and your sign-in (only when you choose “Keep me signed in”) are stored on your phone. Deleting the app removes them; you can delete your account in the app under Account.
Cookies and local storage
Necessary: your sign-in session and your cookie choice. Optional (only with consent): analytics as described above. We don’t use advertising cookies or sell personal data. You can change your choice any time with “Cookie settings” in the footer.
Who processes data for us
- Amazon Web Services (hosting and image storage, Frankfurt, EU)
- Google (sending account emails; Firebase Crashlytics crash reports from the app)
- OpenStreetMap (map images and address lookup when organizers add a venue; map images are fetched by our server, so your device doesn’t contact OpenStreetMap)
- Apple and Google (app distribution through the App Store and Google Play, and “Sign in with Apple / Google” if you use it, under their own privacy policies)
Where data leaves the EU/EEA, we rely on the European Commission’s adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
Account data while your account is open. When you delete your account we remove your personal details within 30 days; shows an organization published stay on the site under the organization’s name. Analytics counts are kept in aggregate.
Your rights
You can access, export, correct or delete your data, object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time. Signed-in users can download their data and delete their account from their profile, or email us. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
The website and the app aren’t meant for children under 16 to create accounts.
Changes
We’ll update this page when things change and note the date at the top.
