About this event

Mangalorean Supper — Un-currying Indian Food
23rd October 2026 · 7:00 PM

We are back with yet another event of Un-currying Indian Food, we’re travelling to Mangalore, a coastal region in Karnataka known for its bold, tangy flavours, coconut-rich preparations and incredible seafood.

This intimate tasting experience offers a glimpse into the food served in a typical Mangalorean home. Expect the flavours of tamarind, chilli, coriander, pepper, curry leaves and coconut, brought together in a menu that moves from crispy bites and soft neer dosa to fragrant biryani and a cooling traditional dessert.

🍽️ The Menu
Goli Bajji with Coconut Chutney
Deep-fried, fluffy dough balls flavoured with spices and served with freshly made coconut chutney.

Squid Sukka Fry
Squid cooked in a spicy, aromatic base and finished with dried coconut, creating a deliciously crumbly coating.
Vegetarian: Chana Sukka — black chickpeas cooked in a spicy masala and finished with dried coconut.

Neer Dosa with Kori Gassi
Soft, delicate rice dosas served with Kori Gassi — chicken simmered in a fragrant coconut milk sauce with Mangalorean spices.
Vegetarian: Padengi Gassi — sprouted mung beans cooked in a spiced coconut milk sauce.

Mangalorean Prawn Biryani
Fragrant rice cooked with whole spices and prawns, served with a refreshing cucumber and onion raita.
Vegetarian: Mixed Vegetable Biryani — cauliflower, carrots, potatoes, white beans and green beans cooked with aromatic spices and rice, served with raita.

Egg Ghee Roast

Ghasagase Payasa
A traditional poppy seed dessert with cashews and raisins — cooling, creamy and the perfect ending to a spicy coastal meal.

🌱 Vegetarian options available throughout the menu.
About your host
The idea for Khao was born while living in the US, far from Bangalore and the flavours of home. Inspired by the incredible diversity of Indian and South Asian cuisine, its founder created Khao Foods to bring these distinctive flavours into convenient sauce blends.

With a focus on creating a sustainability-first brand, Khao Foods aims to offer convenient ways to enjoy Indian flavours while setting new standards for reducing food waste.

Join us around the table for an evening of Mangalorean food, stories and community — and discover a side of Indian cuisine that goes far beyond the curry you may already know.
